This involves PhD researcher placements well as scoping, managing and running pre-competitive and confidential industrial research projects. His research interests are focused on process chemistry and scale-up and how academic research can be translated into industrial impact.

Ian has a PhD in Organic Chemistry from The University of Oxford with Prof John Brown. He spent10 years in contract manufacturing and scale-up of APIs for Zeneca, Avecia and the Piramal Healthcare (all at the same site!) before moving to Britest Ltd as an Innovation Specialist working on pre-competitive methodologies for multi-disciplinary team scale-up and manufacturing in pharma and fine chemicals. After a short spell as a materials scientist in medical devices, Ian joined CMAC in 2011 facilitating the interactions between the 8 Tier 1 large pharma companies and the academics involved in CMAC including running pre-competitive and confidential research projects.
