Meet our Team: Molly McLaughlin
In this edition of CMAC’s monthly Meet Our Team series, we are delighted to celebrate Molly McLaughlin, CMAC’s Administrative Assistant.
Molly attended Lourdes Secondary School in Glasgow, where her favourite subjects were Biology, Maths, and Art. Despite initially pursuing an undergraduate degree in Maths at the University of Glasgow, Molly made the decision to withdraw after a year, recognizing that it wasn't the right career path for her. Throughout her school years and university, Molly held part-time positions at TK Maxx, New Look, Morrisons, and Azets.
Since joining CMAC in November 2022, Molly has become an integral part of the team. Her role includes a wide range of diverse and versatile responsibilities and tasks that showcase her adaptability and commitment to the team's success.
Some of Molly’s responsibilities involve keeping contacts, mailing lists, and holiday spreadsheets up to date whenever people join, leave, or change roles within CMAC; helping to organise meetings, taking minutes, and setting up meeting rooms; monitoring the general inbox and responding to queries; answering and dealing with requests over the telephone; managing pages on the website such as people’s profiles and vacancies; booking travel and processing expenses for staff. She is also a key part of the social committee, where she helps encourage staff to meet up outside of work by arranging various activities.
Molly’s favourite part of the role involves supporting large events such as the CMAC Open Days and Summer School. Last year, Molly spent a week in Dunblane, creating a memorable and educational experience for all the students at Summer School.
She said:
“Everyone at CMAC is driven and has a great work ethic, which is a good motivator. I am part of the Management and Support team, and it is interesting to listen to everyone contribute their parts at the monthly catch-ups. There are so many different roles in the organisation, so it's always interesting to hear about what people do and how they play their part in pharmaceutical research.”
In her spare time, Molly enjoys catching up with friends and family, going to the gym, shopping, travelling and hillwalking. She describes her biggest achievement as obtaining her qualifications from school and earning the Duke of Edinburgh award.
Molly has recently been accepted to study Pharmacy at the University of Strathclyde, where she will begin her studies in September. CMAC would like to wish her the best of luck as she embarks on this exciting new chapter in her academic and professional journey.
