Alison Nordon

Professor

University of Strathclyde

Alison is a co-investigator in the CMAC Future Manufacturing Research Hub. Her research concerns the development of spectroscopic techniques in conjunction with multivariate data analysis methods for the on-line monitoring of chemical processes. Therefore, research interests can be divided into three main areas: (1) Advances in measurement techniques (optical, acoustic and low-field nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometries) for process monitoring, (2) Development of multivariate data analysis procedures to extract chemical and/or physical information from spectroscopic signals, and (3) On-line monitoring of processes from a wide range of industries at all scales from development up to full-scale manufacturing.

Alison obtained a BSc (Hons) degree in Chemistry and a PhD in solid-state NMR spectroscopy from the University of Durham. She then moved to the University of Strathclyde where she held research fellow and senior research fellow posts with the Centre for Process Analytics and Technology (CPACT). Between 2004 and 2012, Alison held a Royal Society University Research Fellowship and was appointed as a member of academic staff in the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry at the University of Strathclyde in 2006.
