Platform 3 focuses on the development of digital design tools for the important quality control (QC) aspects of medicines manufacturing.
QC processes ensure product and patient safety, so it is therefore an integral, highly regulated and scrutinised part of all medicine manufacturing.
Currently, QC checks to confirm compliance to regulatory standards are carried out after a process has been completed – meaning many problems are only spotted after they have occurred. This approach is inefficient, fragmented, costly (>20% of total production costs) and time consuming. It’s clear there are huge benefits to be gained from identifying problems and confirming compliance in real-time. Platform 3 will research how we can do this by utilising rich data from IDTs to transform QC.
